Locality:
We are on the Kingsdown/Walmer borders. Kingsdown is a pretty fishing village with a Post Office, Hairdresser, Butcher and Newsagent. There are 3 Pubs offering food withing a 10 minute walk. The C of E church is a 5 minute walk. There is also an 18 hole links course with views across the channel to France; and cliff walks to St. Margaret's Bay and beyond to Dover.
Walmer castle, 1 mile away is the official residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, a position formerly held by The Queen Mother, and currently Admiral Lord Boyce.
Walmer Green is the site of a memorial bandstand to the 11 Marine Musicians killed by the IRA. Free band concerts are held here each Sunday during the summer season. The Green is also the site of the annual Fun Fair which is held during the last week in July, the Regatta and Carnival week.
